  SYSTEMATICS OF THE PERIODIC WINDOWS IN THE LORENZ MODEL AND ITS RELATION WITH THE ANTISYMMETRIC CUBIC MAP

  The Lorenz model and the antisymmetric cubic map enjoy the same discrete symmetry. A careful study of a one-dimensional bifurcation diagram ob- tained numerically from the Lorenz model reveals that the systerriatics of periodic windows is closely related to that of the cubic map. In addition, we determined the drift of the fundamental frequency and thus proposed a nomenclature for the periodic windows by associating an absolute period to each window, which in turn agrees with the corresponding word made of three letters for most of the observed periods.

  The approximate profiles of transversely deformed wave front solutions of a special kind of reaction-diffusion equations are investigated. A transformation for the wave variable is introduced. Then the problem is solved by using Gelerkin procedure.

  A new renormalization approach developed by authors previously is generalized to disordered systems. Calculations of the critical temperature, concentration, exponents, and of limiting slope of critical curve for the random bond-diluted Ising model on the square lattice, even in the lowest approximation, are in very satisfactory agreement with all known exact or series results.

  The vacancy-concentration effect on the vacancy migration energy and the behaviour of divacancies were considered in deriving a formula for the vacancy-current in bcc metals. It turns out that vacancies will migrate in the direction of increasing concentration, when the concentzation is greater than some critical value determined by a reasonable physical condition.The method in this paper can be extended easily to other metals.

  The four-fermion terms are introduced to investigate the effects of vector mesons in the σ model. A self-consistent solution is achieved in the mean field approximation by using the hedgehog ansatz.The static properties of nucleon are calculated, which are found to be in reasonable agreement with experiments.

  A way of microscopic study of shape coexistence in nuclei near closed shell is presented, in which one needs making an extension of IBM to include 2p-2h excitation besides the excitations of the valence nucleons.The calculations of energy spectra and electronic transition rates for Tin isotopes from A=112 to A=116 were performed and compared with experimental data.A good agreement with experiment has been achieved.

  Besed on the BRST approach to the first quantization of closed bosonic strings, we propose a gauge covariant field theory model for both free and interacting closed bosonic strings. The action is of the Chexn-Simons type and coincides with the cohomology of the BRST operators.

  In this paper, we present the explicit expressions of the gauge operators for pseudoscslar fields in a gauge theory coupled vector and axial-vector fields with the aid of the method of operator algebras.The gauge operators of the pure gauge field theory under the chiral group SU(N)×SU(N) are also presented. P9oreover, the explicit expression of the Baker-Hausdorff formula is obtained for a special case and the general situation is discussed.

  NEUTRINO MAGNETIC MOMENT IN SUPERSTRING INSPIRED MODELS

  In superstring E₆ models right-handed leptonic currents can arise from the mixing between the ordinary leptons and tha exotic leptons. Contributions to the neutrino magnetic moment due to this new interaction are examined. Although the result appears to be directly proportional to the heavy exotic charged lepton mass, it is shown, however, that the mixing is proportional to the ratio of the neutrino mass and the exotic lepton mass. The combination of these two factors yields a result which is of the order of that given by the SU(2)_LxU(1)_Y model.

  In terms of the chiral bag model and SD(3) Skyrme wave-functions of baruons, we investigate Δ⁺ →Pγ (SU(2)) and Σp⁺ → Pπ⁰ (SU(3) case) hyperon decays. We have found that for Δ⁺ →Pγ the Skyrme contribution is more important whereas in Σp⁺ → Pπ⁰ the quark content transition dominates.
