  Quantum Mechanical Model Calculations of Phonon Polaritons in Two-Dimensional Crystals

  The properties of the simplest phonon-polaritons exist in a two-dimensional diatomic ionic or polar dielectric are investigated by the quantum field theory methods. We considered the two-dimensional crystal as a simple model of a thin slab, an interface or a heterojunction. The Hamiltonian operator describing the interaction between a photon and the phonon mode of the two-dimensional medium is calculated. Anharmonic effects are neglected. The dispersion curves of the phonon-polaritons and the k‖-dependence of the electric field strength in each polaAton branch are calculated and presented for various cases in a graphical form. It is shown that these properties have close relations with the distributidn of the electromagnetic field in the z direction.

  Laser actions and photon statistics far a nondegenerate two-photon laser in an effective three-level stomic system with arbitrary detunlng are Investigated both semiclassically and quantum meehmleally, Due to the two-photon effect, the radiation field easily displays a sub-Foissonian statlstieal distribution. The laser actions for a two-photon and a sihgle-photon loss mechanisms are compared. It is found that the detailed balance in the single-photon loss mechanism can still be preserved in the case that a first-order phase transtion takes place.

  The two-dimensional plasmonic mechanism of superconductivity has been studied by solving the momentum-and frequency-dependent T_c eigenvalue equation containing vertex and self-energy corrections. Our result shows the failure of appearing superconductivity in one-component electron system. The Coulomb interaction including plasmon effects in the electron gas is estimated to yield net repulsive values of μ between 0.24 and 0.6 for r_s between 1 and 10.

  Semiclassical Euler-Lagrange equations at zero and finite temperatures are derived in the extended Thomas-Fermi approximation by making use of the Skyrme forces. The imaginary time step method is adopted as a numerical algorithm to these equations. Rom the solutions of the eemiclassical Eu1er-Lagrange equations we etudy the static properties of some cold and hot spherical nuclei. Some comparisons with available experimental data are also presented.

  The Dyson and Holstein-Primakoff boson realizations of the generators of SU(3) algebra have been given for the algebra chain SU(3)⊃U(1)+U(1), and a set of recursion formulae of the transformation matrix, which turn the Dyson onto the Holstein-. Primakoff representation, have been presented. The multiplicity that can occur in the reduction of SU(3)⊃U(1)+U(1) is naturally determined.

  The bbody, 4-body and 5-body quantum mechanical systems with pairwise interactions having repulsive core and attractive tail and with completely symmetric permutation symmetry in the spatial wavefunctions are studied. The spatial distribution of the wavefunctions of the low-lying O⁺ states is investigated in detail. The features of the geometric structures and of the internal motions of each of these states are revealed. Certain modes of the internal motions are discovered.

  Ne assume that the gauge bosons W and Z are composed of subconstituents. The generalized form for Hung-Sakurai model is obtained in the existence of the exciting states of W and Z bosons. It is shown that the predictioh for the Z hadronic width is smaller than that of standard model since the gauge coupling constant decreases in the composite model. One-loop contributions from the exciting states are also discussed.

  The systems of q-deformed oscillators of type two are studied in the case of q being the roots of unity. Non-bosonic excitations are found in (quantum mechanical) q-oscillators, and the classical mechanical counterparts and the saturation property are given. Eepecially when rank k is near 4, the excitations are found violating the Pauli exclusion principle, and possible physical interpretation is investigated.

  In this paper we study the dispersion relation of thermal non-neutral plasma column by MHD theory. We use the dispersion relation to discuss the stability and dispersive properties in a non-neutral plasma-filled waveguide. The results are in agreement with those of cold non-neutral plasma.

  In this paper, four-wave mixing in plasmas for the case of a transmission geometry is investigated. The exact solutions of appropriate nonlinear equations for a π/2 phase shift between the refractive index grating and interference pattern of the optical beams have been found. The existence of multistability and self-oscillations in the process has been shown. It should be pointed out that our solutions contain both intensities and phases of the beams.

  The differential cross sections of the inelastic scattering 6f K⁺ at 800 MeV/c on 2⁺, 3^- excited states of ¹²C are calculated by means of the eikonal approximation and the collective coordinate. It seems that the 2⁺ state of ¹²C is quadrupole rotational state, the 3^- state of ¹²C is octupole vibrational state. The results are in agreement with experimental data.

  An inhomogeneous q-differential realization (q-IHDR) and its corresponding inhomogeneous q-boson realization (q-IHBR) of quantum group SU(n)_q are studied. By making use of the q-IHBR a kind of infinite dimensional indecomposable and irreducible representations of SU(n)_q is studied on the q-Fcck space. The finite dimensional irreducible representations of SU(n), are obtained on the finite dimensional subspaces of q-Fock space. As an example, these representations of SU(2)_q are studied in detail and Jimbo standard irreducible representations are obtained.

  In detail we analyse possible ways for measuring the hidden phase in ΔS=1 weak, radiative decays of hyperons and have found that any measurement on the kinematic quantities of the decays cannot determine the phase. The only possibility is to measure the CP non-invariannce in decays, even though it is very difficult. Our analysis is fully model-independent.
