In this paper, we obtain the soliton solutions for the "good" Boussinesq equation on a constant background. Based on the asymptotic analysis of the solutions, we find that this equation admits both the elastic and resonant soliton interactions, as well as various partially inelastic interactions comprised of such two fundamental interactions. Via picture drawing, we present some examples of soliton interactions on nonzero backgrounds. Our results enrich the knowledge of soliton interactions in the (1+1)-dimensional integrable equation with a single field.

In this paper, we derive the bi-Hamiltonian structure of a multi-component Camassa-Holm system, which associates with the multi-component AKNS hierarchy and multi-component KN hierarchy via the tri-Hamiltonian duality method. Furthermore, the spectral problems of the dual hierarchies may be obtained.

In this paper, we investigate the traveling wave solutions for the nonlinear dispersive equation, Korteweg-de Vries Zakharov-Kuznetsov (KdV-ZK) equation and complex coupled KdV system by using extended simplest equation method, and then derive the hyperbolic function solutions include soliton solutions, trigonometric function solutions include periodic solutions with special values for double parameters and rational solutions. The properties of such solutions are shown by figures. The results show that this method is an effective and a powerful tool for handling the solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (NLEEs) in mathematical physics.

We propose an adiabatic-passage scheme for the generation of three-qutrit singlet states with two-level trapped ions. Distinctly different from previous proposals, we encode qutrits in Dicke states with two-level ions and use the adiabatic-evolution techniques in order not to exactly control the laser pulses, making the realization of the scheme much easier. Furthermore, the phonon is only virtually excited in the procedure, so the effect of the phonon losses can be reduced.

We theoretically investigate the energy band structure and Josephson dynamics of a spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential. We study the energy band structure and the corresponding tunneling dynamics of the system by properly adjusting the SO coupling, Raman coupling, Zeeman field and atomic interactions. The coupled effects of SO coupling, Raman coupling, Zeeman field and atomic interactions lead to the appearance of complex energy band structure including the loop structure. Particularly, the emergence of the loop structure in energy band also depends on SO coupling, Raman coupling, Zeeman field and atomic interactions. Correspondingly, the Josephson dynamics of the system are strongly related to the energy band structure. Especially, the emergence of the loop structure results in complex tunneling dynamics, including suppression-revival transitions and self-trapping of atoms transfer between two spin states and two wells. This engineering provides a possible means for studying energy level and corresponding dynamics of two-species SO coupled BECs.

Thermodynamic properties and phase diagrams of a mixed spin-(1,2) Ising ferrimagnetic system with single ion anisotropy on hexagonal nanowire are studied by using effective-field theory with correlations. The susceptibility, internal energy and specific heat of the system are numerically examined and some interesting phenomena in these quantities are found. The effect of the Hamiltonian parameters on phase diagrams are examined in detail. Besides second-order phase transition, lines of first-order transition and tricritical points are found. In particular, we found that for some negative values of single-ion anisotropies, there exist first-order phase transitions.

Systems of photosynthetic reaction centres have been modelled as heat engines, while it has also been reported that the efficiency and power of such heat engines can be enhanced by quantum interference|a trait that has attracted much interest. We compare two definitions of the work of such a photosynthetic heat engine, i.e. definition A used by Weimer et al. and B by Dorfman et al. We also introduce a coherent interaction between donor and acceptor (CIDA) to demonstrate a reversible energy transport. We show that these two definitions of work can impart contradictory results, that is, CIDA enhances the power and efficiency of the photosynthetic heat engine with definition B but not with A. Additionally, we find that both reversible and irreversible excitation-energy transport can be described with definition A, but definition B can only model irreversible transport. As a result, we conclude that definition A is more suitable for photosynthetic systems than definition B.

In this paper, we investigate the stationary probability current (or flux) of a Brownian ratchet model as a function of the flipping rate of the fluctuating potential barrier. It is shown that, with suitably selecting the parameters' values of the ratchet system, we can get the negative resonant activation, the positive resonant activation, the double resonant activation, and the current reversal, for the stationary probability current versus the flipping rate. The appearance of these phenomena is the result of the cooperative effects of the potential's dichotomous fluctuations and the internal thermal fluctuations on the evolution of the flux versus the flipping rate of the fluctuating potential barrier. In addition, some applications of our results to the motor proteins are discussed.

The piezomagnetoelastic energy harvester system subjected to harmonic and Poisson white noise excitations is studied by using the generalized cell mapping method. The transient and stationary probability density functions (PDFs) of response based on the global viewpoint are obtained by the matrix analysis method. Monte Carlo simulation results verify the accuracy of this method. It can be observed that evolutionary direction of transient and stationary PDFs is in accordance with the unstable manifold for this system, and a stochastic P-bifurcation occurs as the intensity of Poisson white noise increases. This study presents an efficient numerical tool to solve the stochastic response of a three-dimensional dynamical system and provides a new idea to analyze the energy harvester system.

We study a combined parity (P) and time reversal (T) invariant non-Hermitian quasi-exactly solvable (QES) potential, which exhibits PT phase transition, in the complex plane classically to demonstrate different quantum effects. The particle with real energy makes closed orbits around one of the periodic wells of the complex potential depending on the initial condition. However interestingly the particle escapes to an open orbits even with real energy if it is placed beyond a certain distance from the center of the well. On the other hand when the particle energy is complex the trajectory is open and the particle tunnels back and forth between two wells which are separated by a classically forbidden path. The tunneling time is calculated for different pair of wells and is shown to vary inversely with the imaginary component of energy. Our study reveals that spontaneous PT symmetry breaking does not affect the qualitative features of the particle trajectories in the analogous complex classical model.

We investigate the equation of state of the strong interaction matter in a background magnetic field via the two flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. Starting from the mean-field thermodynamical potential density Ω, we calculate the pressure density p, the entropy density s, the energy density ε, and the interaction measure (ε-3p)=T4 of the strong interaction matter at finite temperature and finite magnetic field. The results manifest that the chiral phase transition is just a crossover but not a low order phase transition. Moreover there may exist magnetic catalysis effect, and its mechanism is just the effective dimension reduction induced by the magnetic field.

In this paper, we consider the interaction between two two-level atoms and a two-mode binomial field with a general intensity-dependent coupling regime. The outlined dynamical problem has explicit analytical solution, by which we can evaluate a few of its physical features of interest. To achieve the purpose of the paper, after choosing a particular nonlinearity function, we investigate the quantum statistics, atomic population inversion and at last the linear entropy of the atom-field system which is a good measure for the degree of entanglement. In detail, the effects of binomial field parameters, in addition to different initial atomic states on the temporal behavior of the mentioned quantities have been analyzed. The results show that, the values of binomial field parameters and the initial state of the two atoms influence on the nonclassical effects in the obtained states through which one can tune the nonclassicality criteria appropriately. Setting intensity-dependent coupling function equal to 1 reduces the results to the constant coupling case. By comparing the latter case with the nonlinear regime, we will observe that the nonlinearity disappears the pattern of collapse-revival phenomenon in the evolution of Mandel parameter and population inversion (which can be seen in the linear case with constant coupling), however, more typical collapse-revivals will be appeared for the cross-correlation function in the nonlinear case. Finally, in both linear and nonlinear regime, the entropy remains less than (but close to) 0.5. In other words the particular chosen nonlinearity does not critically affect on the entropy of the system.

The approximate analytical frequency chirps and the critical distances for cross-phase modulation induced optical wave breaking (OWB) of the initial hyperbolic-secant optical pulses propagating in optical fibers with quintic nonlinearity (QN) are presented. The pulse evolutions in terms of the frequency chirps, shapes and spectra are numerically calculated in the normal dispersion regime. The results reveal that, depending on different QN parameters, the traditional OWB or soliton or soliton pulse trains may occur. The approximate analytical critical distances are found to be in good agreement with the numerical ones only for the traditional OWB whereas the approximate analytical frequency chirps accords well with the numerical ones at the initial evolution stages of the pulses.

The dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a forcing item is derived by using of multiple scales analysis and perturbation method as a mathematical model of describing envelope solitary Rossby waves with dissipation effect and external forcing in rotational stratified fluids. By analyzing the evolution of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves, it is found that the shear of basic flow, Brunt-Vaisala frequency and β effect are important factors in forming the envelope solitary Rossby waves. By employing Jacobi elliptic function expansion method and Hirota's direct method, the analytic solutions of dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation and forced nonlinear Schrödinger equation are derived, respectively. With the help of these solutions, the effects of dissipation and external forcing on the evolution of envelope solitary Rossby wave are also discussed in detail. The results show that dissipation causes slowly decrease of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves and slowly increase of width, while it has no effect on the propagation speed and different types of external forcing can excite the same envelope solitary Rossby waves. It is notable that dissipation and different types of external forcing have certain influence on the carrier frequency of envelope solitary Rossby waves.

Spectral hole burning is investigated in an optical medium in the presence of Doppler broadening and Kerr nonlinearity. The Kerr nonlinearity generates coherent hole burning in the absorption spectrum. The higher order Kerr nonlinearity enhances the typical lamb dip of the hole. Normal dispersion in the hole burning region while Steep anomalous dispersion between the two hole burning regions also enhances with higher order Kerr effect. A large phase shift creates large delay or advancement in the pulse propagation while no distortion is observed in the pulse. These results provide significant steps to improve optical memory, telecom devices, preservation of information and image quality.

The nonlinear propagation of ion-acoustic (IA) shock waves (SHWs) in a nonextensive multi-ion plasma system (consisting of inertial positive light ions as well as negative heavy ions, noninertial nonextensive electrons and positrons) has been studied. The reductive perturbation technique has been employed to derive the Burgers equation. The basic properties (polarity, amplitude, width, etc.) of the IA SHWs are found to be significantly modified by the effects of nonextensivity of electrons and positrons, ion kinematic viscosity, temperature ratio of electrons and positrons, etc. It has been observed that SHWs with positive and negative potential are formed depending on the plasma parameters. The findings of our results obtained from this theoretical investigation may be useful in understanding the characteristics of IA SHWs both in laboratory and space plasmas.

In this paper, we consider F(R,T) gravity as a linear function of the curvature and torsion scalars and interact it with logarithmic entropy corrected holographic dark energy to evaluate cosmology solutions. The model is investigated by FRW metric, and then the energy density and the pressure of dark energy are calculated. Also we obtain equation of state (EoS) parameter of dark energy and plot it with respect to both variable of redshift and e-folding number. Finally, we describe the scenario in three status: early, late and future time by e-folding number.
